Salah has taken in just two appearances for the Reds in 2024, with the Africa Cup of Nations and an untimely injury disrupting his domestic campaign. He did briefly return to Klopp’s plans against Brentford on February 17, finding the target in that contest, but has been sidelined with muscle fatigue since then.

Salah has sat out the Carabao Cup final and important Premier League fixtures, but is working his way towards full fitness. Klopp said of the 31-year-old forward ahead of a Europa League clash with Sparta Prague: “Mo travelled. He's with us, he trained two days. Full of energy. We have to see but it's so good that he's back. It's really good for us and you can see he's very happy. A very unlucky situation [him] being out that long. He played an incredible game at Brentford and was then out again.”
Klopp added: “We want to be careful and have to be careful but we are in the middle of a super-intense period of the season. We need everybody and now let's see how long we can use him. That's how it is with him and others as well. It's just good news.”

Liverpool have four games to take in before hitting the next international break, with Klopp saying when asked about the threat of Salah being called up again by Egypt: “That is nothing to do [with me] really. That will be decided in different departments. No, nothing to do with that. Let's see how long he can play now. As I said, two days in team training – so, in a different situation players are not in the squad in this moment, but in our situation it makes sense. What can we give him? How much can we use him? We will see that. And then there are two games with Egypt, but it's really not up to me or stuff like this, we are not really involved. That is discussed in other departments, let me say it like that.”
WHAT NEXT FOR SALAH?
Salah is up to 19 goals for the season, with 15 of those coming in the Premier League, and will be desperate to play his part in more trophy quests as speculation continues to link him with a big-money transfer to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2024.
